Telecel Ghana Music Awards Opens Nominations for 26th Edition

The Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) has officially opened nominations for Ghanaian artists ahead of its 26th edition.

Organizers of the annual music awards show made the announcement on their social media platforms, urging artists, producers and record labels to submit their entries and musical projects for consideration. According to the statement, eligible projects must have been released between January 1 and December 31, 2024.

Musicians are encouraged to submit their entries via the official TGMA website. The announcement also emphasized the importance of adhering to the submission deadline, Feb 16, 2025.

The TGMA board also redefined certain award categories and outlined requirements for artistes to qualify for a nomination. New categories have also been added.

New Categories:


Best Urban/Contemporary Gospel Song: This category celebrates the fusion of traditional gospel music with modern urban influences, highlighting the creativity of Ghanaian artistes.

Best African Song: This award honors the most popular song by a non-Ghanaian African artist that was commercially released during the year under review.

Traditional Artiste of the Year: Solely adjudicated by the TGMA board, this category recognizes outstanding artists who have excelled in folklore music.

Titan Award: This accolade will be presented to individuals who have made significant contributions to the growth and development of the music industry.

Updated Category Definition:

 Artiste of the Year: Redefined as the artist with the highest audience appeal and popularity during the year under review. To qualify, the artist must have released a hit single, EP, or album and be among those with the highest number of nominations in the year.
