A massive fire has swept through a popular pedestrian market in Ghana’s capital, Accra, destroying several shops and forcing many to evacuate.
Authorities say that the fire which started at dawn had engulfed mostly wooden structures at the Odawna Market, but firefighters deployed to the scene are yet to confirm any casualties.
It is not immediately known what caused the fire as images show the fire had razed down the market.
Market fires are rife in Ghana, especially in the nation’s capital and Kumasi, the country’s second-largest city.
Though the cause of these fires is not known immediately, many have blamed poor electrical circuit installations as the major cause of these fires.
