According to the KMA Public Relations Unit, Otumfuo  Osei Tutu II and the Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Samuel Pyne, will be participating in this special and historic clean-up exercise.

Born Barima Kwaku Duah, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was enstooled as the 16th occupant of the Golden Stool on April 26, 1999. Thousands of people thronged the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi to witness the historic ceremony.

Since becoming the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu has championed the development of the people of the Ashanti Kingdom in particular and Ghana as a whole. He has masterfully navigated the dual role of a development agent and a philanthropist by playing a significant role in assisting various government initiatives and programmes – the most significant one being in the assistance to the Nana Akufo-Addo administration in the negotiation of the release of $174 million from the World Bank in support of education in Ghana.

The Asantehene also lobbied for the sitting of the Africa Continental Free Trade Area headquarters in Accra.

In 2019 Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was invited by the United Nations to deliver a special keynote address on the “Culture of Peace”. This was in recognition of his significant role in the promotion of peace in Ghana.
