9 Arrested Over False Allegations of Missing Genitals

The arrests were made in various locations, with six individuals nabbed in Kasoa (Central Region), two in Ashaiman (Greater Accra Region), and one in Nkawkaw (Eastern Region), all implicated in spreading false claims of missing genitals.

The Ghana Police Service has taken swift action, apprehending nine individuals nationwide for disseminating false information regarding the purported disappearance of their genitals. These claims sparked fear and chaos among the populace, leading to attacks on innocent citizens.

In an official statement posted on Facebook and X, the Police revealed that investigations, including medical examinations, debunked all allegations as false. The arrests were made in various locations, with six individuals nabbed in Kasoa (Central Region), two in Ashaiman (Greater Accra Region), and one in Nkawkaw (Eastern Region), all implicated in spreading false claims of missing genitals.

Legal proceedings are underway, with five suspects already arraigned before the court. Of these, three have been remanded into police custody, while two have been granted bail. The remaining individuals are currently on police inquiry bail and will soon face court proceedings, as confirmed by police authorities.

Expressing grave concern over the rising trend of false claims surrounding genital disappearance, the Ghana Police Service highlighted the dangerous consequences, including mob violence directed at innocent bystanders.

In a stern warning to the public, the statement emphasized the criminality and potential harm of such actions, urging citizens to refrain from engaging in activities that disrupt public peace and endanger innocent lives.

“We wish to caution the public against such criminal conduct that is likely to harm innocent people as well as disturb the public peace,” the statement reiterated, underscoring the need for responsible behavior and adherence to the law.
