The Vice President of Ghana, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has expressed her gratitude to Ghanaians for their thoughtful well-wishes following the official announcement of her illness and forthcoming treatment abroad.
In a social media post to wish Muslims a happy Eid Mubarak, Professor Opoku-Agyemang also stated that the kind sentiments shared by citizens and well-wishers had deeply touched her.
She also extended prayers for the Muslim community, expressing hope that the celebration of Eid Mubarak brings renewed strength and peace.
“On this blessed occasion, I extend my warmest wishes to you and your families. Your dedication, values, and contributions enrich our nation and the world. May this celebration bring you joy, peace, and renewed strength.

“Likewise, I would like to say thank you to everyone for the kind sentiments and well wishes this weekend,” she posted on Monday, March 31, 2025, on Facebook.
Official communications from the Office of the President stated that the Vice President, Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, was hospitalized on Friday, March 28, 2025.
According to Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, it followed a sudden illness of the vice president after work hours on Friday.
“The Vice President, Her Excellency Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, received treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre on Saturday due to a sudden illness that occurred after work on Friday, March 28, 2025,” the statement said.
The statement added that although she has since been attended to at the UGMC, she will travel for further medical attention based on expert opinion.
“Based on expert medical opinion, she will seek further care abroad,” it read.
