Ghana’s embassy in Washington, D.C. will be re-opened on May 29, after a temporary closure this week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced.
“A team of seasoned diplomats led by an astute diplomat from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been tasked to run the Mission to ensure total systems overhaul, restore integrity in the embassy’s operations, and complete ongoing structural reforms,” the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

Additionally, the IT team has been deployed to reconfigure the embassy’s website as the closure was linked to a staff member’s alleged fraudulent diversion of visa and passport applications.
Authorities further say the Auditor-General and the Attorney-General are considering sanctions on the matter.
