Known for painting pictures with his anecdotal verses, Sarkodie touches on the struggles and the dream of hustlers with the brand new track “Hustlers Dream” featuring Ghanaian Drill sensations Jay Bhad and Kweku DMC.
A video of the studio session for the song was initially released on Sarkodie’s social media for fans to savour, ahead of the release on May 30, 2024.
A hustler’s dream of making it out of the trenches is an elusive dream that often never materialises due to the constraints of hardship, complacency, and lack of action, per Sarkodie’s verses in the song. Sarkodie speaks on his detest for poverty, and how he charted a lonely path to success with no handouts. His cadence marries seamlessly with the sombre chords of the organ and percussion of the loud kicks of the beat
Jay Bhad intersects with a superfluous hook reflective of Sarkodie’s sentiments, echoing that if he makes it out, people should understand his extravagant celebration because he earned his wealth without employing dubious tactics.
To climax the story, Kweku DMC briefly recollects past struggles, from trapping to survive to becoming self-reliant, and then losing friends. His message is clear: long-time friends will turn into foes after the hustle blesses the hustler with growth and success.
