Though the NPP has yet to officially open nominations for its flagbearership contest, the legislator for the Bosomtwe Constituency, Yaw Adutwum is the latest to formally make his leadership intentions publicly known.

Former Minister of Education and Member of Parliament for the Bosomtwe Constituency, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has officially announced his intention to contest for the flagbearership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the party’s next presidential primaries on January 31, 2025.

The legislator took to X [formerly Twitter] to declare his intention should nominations open officially.

“With humility, conviction, and a resolute heart, I, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, declare my intent to run for the Flagbearership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), should nominations be officially opened by the party.”

The announcement puts Dr. Adutwum as one of the latest high-profile entrants into what is shaping up to be a competitive leadership race within the opposition party as it prepares for the 2028 general elections.
