A delegation from the Africa Centre for Nature-based Climate Action (AC4NCA) paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of Mexico in Accra. The purpose of the visit was to officially introduce the Centre, share its vision, and initiate dialogue towards potential collaboration between Mexico and AC4NCA in the fight against climate change.
The AC4NCA delegation was led by its Global Lead, Hon. Samuel A. Jinapor, MP, accompanied by the Board Chair, Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee and the Ag. Executive Secretary, Juliet Osei-Wusu (Mrs). They were warmly received by the Deputy Head of Mission, H.E. Fernando Alvarado Valenzuela, who welcomed the initiative and expressed support for the establishment of such a climate-focused organisation in Africa.
The Deputy Ambassador acknowledged the critical importance of nature-based climate solutions and emphasised the need for global cooperation. He reiterated that climate change is a universal challenge, one that transcends borders, and therefore requires joint action.

The Board Chair of AC4NCA emphasised the importance of creating synergy among various stakeholders. She noted that, in today’s interconnected world, the fight against climate change cannot be pursued in isolation. It demands a deliberate and inclusive approach where governments, non-governmental organisations, research institutions, and community-based actors come together to pool their expertise, experiences, and innovative solutions.
During the meeting, the Global Lead highlighted Mexico’s leadership in biodiversity conservation and forest protection. He cited key programmes being implemented in Mexico to conserve ecosystems and promote sustainability. He called for collaborative partnerships with Mexican civil society organisations (CSOs) that are also engaged in nature-based climate initiatives. This, he noted, would be essential for sharing practical experiences, innovations, and best practices.
In response, the Deputy Ambassador expressed keen interest in facilitating connections between AC4NCA and relevant Mexican NGOs to foster deeper engagement. He stressed the value of building South-South cooperation and supported efforts to strengthen ties between African and Latin American climate actors.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to work closely to exchange knowledge, enhance institutional capacity, and contribute meaningfully to the global movement for climate resilience and sustainable development.
