Agradaa Denied Bail Pending Appeal of Her 15-year Sentence

Agradaa was sentenced on July 3 by a Circuit Court. Her legal team believes the trial was unfair and is seeking to appeal the case and overturn the conviction.

The High Court in Amasaman has denied bail to popular traditional priestess turned evangelist, Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, also known as Nana Agradaa.

“We wanted bail pending appeal, and the court did not grant it. The court has given an order that the Circuit Court furnish the court with all the processes needed for the appeal. We will continue the appeal process,” a member of her legal team, Bernard Kofi Assibuah, told Accra-based Citi FM in an interview.

Agradaa was sentenced on July 3 by a Circuit Court. Her legal team believes the trial was unfair and is seeking to appeal the case and overturn the conviction.

In the meantime, they also wanted the High Court to grant her bail pending a notice of her appeal.

But the judge rejected the application for bail, with the view that the application of the convict does not demonstrate a likelihood of success of her appeal.
