NCA Suspends Wontumi Radio Stations, 6 Others For Breaches

Wontumi Radio, Donplus Multimedia Limited, Dreams Ghana Media Limited, Jam Multimedia Limited, Jewel Group Limited Kandai Star Community Radio are among the radio stations suspended by the National Communications Authority (NCA)

The National Communications Authority (NCA) has suspended the operations of nine radio stations for various regulatory breaches.

The decision was announced by the NCA today, August 12, 2024. This comes after the expiration of a 30-day amnesty granted by President John Dramani Mahama to defaulting stations.

“Six stations failed, refused and neglected to comply with the regulatory amnesty by taking no action,” NCA said in a statement.

The NCA said Wontumi Multimedia failed to fully comply within the amnesty window, thus, its suspension.

The affected stations include Donplus Multimedia Limited (Ho, 105.9), Dreams Ghana Media Limited (New Abirem, 104.9), Jam Multimedia Limited (Kintampo, 101.3), Jewel Group Limited (Duayaw Nkwanta, 102.7), and Kandai Star Community Radio (Kpandai, 107.3).

Others include, Unique Gateway Communication Limited, and three outlets of Wontumi Multimedia Company Limited — operating in Accra (95.9), Kumasi (101.3) and Takoradi (101.3).
