The government today, August 15, is holding a state burial for the eight lives lost during the August 6 helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.
The state funeral is currently underway at the Black Star Square in Accra. In attendance are President John Dramani Mahama, government officials, members of the security services, traditional leaders, and the bereaved families.

Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, former NDC Parliamentary candidate, Samuel Aboagye, and Samuel Sarpong, a Vice Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), were the officials who lost their lives in last Wednesday’s crash.
The three crew members lost in the crash were: Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah
Two days prior to this event, the government had held a funeral for the late Alhaji Murtala Mohammed and Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, in accordance with Islamic tradition.
