Leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana, Kofi Akpaloo, is under investigation on allegations of various financial crimes, including causing financial loss to the state and money laundering, the Deputy Attorney General, Justice Srem-Sai, has said.
Akpaloo was reported this week to have been picked up by officials of the Economic and Organised Crime Office at Kumasi and brought to Accra. Details of his arrest were not clear at the time.
The Deputy Attorney-General, who confirmed in a brief statement on X on Friday, said he had been granted police bail with the following conditions: GHC 10 million bond with 2 sureties to be justified.

“The suspect remains in the custody of EOCO pending the fulfilment of the bail conditions,” he added.
The LPG, one of the smaller political parties in Ghana, only garnered 5,219 votes (0.09%) at the 2024 general elections. Kofi Akpaloo had stood as the party’s presidential candidate.
