Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as “Kantanka, the African Star,” has passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025, the Safo family and the Kristo Asafo Church have announced.
“With profound sorrow and deepest grief, the Safo family and the Kristo Asafo Church announce the peaceful passing of Ghana’s beloved man of God, the greatest technological icon, philanthropist, agriculturalist and industrialist,” the family said in a statement.
The statement also described him as “a true genius, a beacon of hope for many, and a father to the fatherless.”
Tributes and memorial plans are expected to be announced in the coming days, along with arrangements for the funeral.
Dr. Safo Kantanka was the father of former Ghanaian MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo.
He was born on August 26, 1948 at Bekwai, in the Ashanti Region. He was also famous for founding the Katanga Automobile and Kristo Asafo Mission, a religious group.
