Nigerian chef and once Guinness World Record Holder, Hilda Baci, has set another record for cooking the largest serving of jollof rice, the Guinness World Records said on Monday.
Baci, in partnership with seasoning brand Gino, cooked what her team called the largest pot of jollof rice last Friday, in Lagos, Nigeria.

Guinness World Records (GWR), while confirming the achievement, said Ms Baci’s concoction of the popular West African dish weighed a staggering 8,780kg.
“Rules of the record stipulated that certain ingredients had to be used, and Hilda shared the exact measurements of everything she stirred into her record-breaking dish.
“Her ingredients, cooked up in a gigantic pot, included 4,000 kg of washed basmati rice (the rice had to constitute at least 80% of the total weight), 164 kg of fresh goat meat, 220 kg of Gino Asun & peppered chicken cubes, and 600 kg of her own jollof pepper mix,” Guinness World Records said.
It’s reported that it took nine hours of fire and 1,200 kg of gas to create the 16,600 plates of rice.
“Hilda and Gino Nigeria also had to follow strict rules when it came to the distribution of the food, with none of it allowed to be wasted,” GWR said further.
In 2023, Baci broke the World Record for the longest nonstop cooking by cooking for close to 100 hours straight. However, she was later surpassed by Irish chef Alan Fisher. The current record-holder is Evette Quoibia from Australia, with 140 hours and 11 minutes, according to GWR.
With her new record now, the Guinness World Records is asking whether it has put to sleep the jollof wars.
“Will someone from Ghana hit back with their own record attempt?
“There is a record for largest serving of Ghanaian style jollof rice but it currently has no holder,” the GWR said.
