NPP Flagbearer Race: Bawumia Begins Nationwide Campaign Ahead of January Primaries

The statement noted that the campaign will be grassroots-focused

Former Vice President Dr. Bawumia is set to start his nationwide campaign from Wednesday, as he seeks to woo delegates for his re-election as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.

“The campaign will kick off on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 with an exciting tour of all 276 constituencies across Ghana,” the Bawumia campaign said in a statement on Tuesday.

The statement also noted that the campaign will be grassroots-focused, such that Dr. Bawumia would have interactions with polling station members, electoral area coordinators, constituency executives, and members of parliament, whether former and current.

“The initiative underscores his commitment to listening, building consensus, and strengthening the party’s foundation from the ground up,” the statement added.

The campaign also called on party members and supporters to maintain decency throughout the flagbearer contest.

“We must refrain from insults, personal attacks, and false allegations. Our focus should be on promoting Dr. Bawumia’s vision, achievements, and ideas for the country.”
The NPP will hold its presidential primaries to elect a flagbearer on January 31, 2026.
