Sammy Baah Flex, the manager of Ghanaian dancehall star, Shatta Wale, has revealed that 673,000 fans attended Shatta Wale’s “ShattaFest 2025” show.
The show which was hosted last Friday at Ghana’s Independence Square in Accra, became the buzz on social media as fans and supporters of the Shatta Movement brand trooped out in massive numbers to support Shatta Wale. With videos of blocked roads and overfilled seats at the event flooding social media, netizens argued over the crowd figures being mentioned by fanatics which ranged between 100,000 and 400,000. Critics also questioned the veracity of the figures, since it was not a ticketed event.

The growing online debate about the show sparked a controversy that led to Sammy Flex releasing a statement on X to set the record straight with the figures. The statement revealed that the collated figures were gathered as a result of a review conducted “in consultation with credible sources, supported by verified data collected from our team on the grounds at Independence Square.” The statement stated that the official attendance for ShattaFest 2025 stood at 673,000 people, describing it as a “realistic and factual account of the turnout witnessed at this historic event.”
Despite the official statement from Shatta Wale’s camp, other views from different news sources, including JoyNews, have also come out to dispute the numbers. According to a new publication from the media house, their research analysis estimated the crowd to be around 400,000, with 250,000 people occupying the main Independence Square area and about 150,000 people in the surrounding streets and areas.
