The National Tripartite Committee (NTC) has approved a 9% increase in the daily national minimum wage effective January 1, 2026.
The increase was reached at a meeting on Sunday, November 2025, between the government, represented by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) and the Ministry of Finance (MoF), and Organised Labour.
The upward adjustment will move the daily minimum wage from GH₵19.97 to GH₵21.77
According to a communique issued by NTC, the review took into account the current economic environment, cost of living, business sustainability, and the need to promote higher levels of employment.
The minimum wage, often factored into the monthly salaries, determines the lowest amount employers can pay their workers. However, for most Ghanaians, this increase may still not offset the cost of living, especially for big cities like Accra and Takoradi.
