On Thursday, November 20, 2025, the late actor Chadwick Boseman was posthumously honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, at the 6904 Hollywood Boulevard area.
Accepting the honour on behalf of the late actor was his wife, Simone Ledward-Boseman, who delivered an emotional speech.
“In life, Chad was more than an actor, or even an artist, he was a spiritual teacher, fortified by a family and close friends that kept him grounded in faith,” Ledward-Boseman said. “Chad taught all of us a great deal. His heart was so vast, he could give each and every person a specific part of him and still have so much left to share with the world,” she added
Viola Davis, Boseman’s co-star in “Black Bottom,” was also in attendance and paid tribute to his lasting impact.
“I have to believe that Chadwick is still alive…can’t use the word gone or death when thinking about him. Chadwick was a mighty, mighty elixir that stirred up the alchemy we’re all in search of, which is meaning,” Davis said. “I celebrate him today, and I say to him I hope all the angels in heaven sang him to a beautiful rest. I thank him for what he left behind in me a burning ember that always guides me to a higher meaning in my work and my purpose.”
“Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler, who worked closely with Chadwick Boseman, described him as “the most incredible jewel” and praised his work ethic on set, even while privately battling colon cancer.
“There’s something special about being that close to somebody that great. You realize how much you don’t measure up, but you also realize how much a human body is capable of,” Coogler said. “Chad showed that every day. Even when he knew his days were limited and his moments were numbered, his generosity extended to the art form.. he still threw himself into the fire,” Coogler said.
Also present at the ceremony were Boseman’s co-stars Michael B. Jordan and Letitia Wright, as well as his brothers, Derrick Boseman and Kevin Boseman.
In a poignant moment during the star unveiling, Simone Ledward-Boseman placed a pair of Chadwick’s shoes and a portrait photograph on his newly minted star so that he could symbolically “step” onto it. She then posed alongside the star with Boseman’s family and co-stars.
