Legendary Ghanaian sound engineer and music producer Edward Nana Poku Osei, also known as Hammer of The Last Two, has released a brand new track dubbed “Still Hammer.”
In anticipation of his forthcoming album, “Upper Echelons,” Da’ Hammer released ‘Still Hammer’ as the second single. The rap record which features Joey B, E.L, and Fameye, was dropped on December 26, 2025.
As a pioneer of hip-hop beat-making in Ghana in the early 2000s, Hammer showcases his golden touch in crafting hip-hop records. The chords and horns lay low this time, with the kicks delivering progressive hits and a melancholic tone, adding an almost cinematic theme-song feel that perfectly accommodates two rappers and a singer on one song.
Joey B breaks open the record with lyrics about securing wins in today’s generation, dreaming of wealth, prioritizing time, and sharing his story of meeting Hammer, all with his infectious internal rhyme schemes.
E.L interjects with a melodious auto-tuned hook and then spits verses laced with sentiments from a chaotic mind. He paints a picture of a star with an avoidant personality that shuns the limelight. He also shares stories of his rise, studying Hammer’s production blueprint. E.L lives up to his title as the Best African Rapper with his lyrical dexterity and the ability to layer the background of the song with his melodious vocal stacks.
Fameye changes the pace of the record, swaying listeners to his territory with his unmistakable style and tone. He broods on time, perseverance, and the need for celebration after enduring life’s hardships.
The “Upper Echelons” album, initially teased by Hammer years ago, was delayed due to production issues and conflicting schedules. However, the album is expected to drop in early 2026, featuring 20 tracks and collaborations with some of Ghana’s top musicians.
