Lee Cronin’s upcoming twisted horror thriller gets an official trailer, giving fans a peek at his dark reimagining of the classic Mummy Tales
The film, written and directed by Cronin and produced by James Wan, Jason Blum, and John Keville, is set to be released on April 17, 2026 by Warner Bros Pictures.
This time around, Cronin sheds the iconic pyramids, scarabs, tombs and reanimated ancient Egyptian entities, opting for a fresh take that plunges the Mummy tale into dark exorcism horror territory.

For movie fans who fell in love with the popular Universal Studios Mummy franchise, it’s important to note that Lee Cronin’s The Mummy isn’t tied to the 1999 cult classic, which blended adventure, terror of the undead and tomb curses.
The plot of the film revolves around a journalist’s young daughter who vanishes in the desert, only to be found eight years later. But when she returns, her family realizes she’s not the same person they knew. Their daughter is now a vessel of dark chaos, unleashing nightmares and destruction.
