Jamaican Dancehall star Andrae Hugh Sutherland, better known as Popcaan, has been officially enstooled as a chief in the Asebu Traditional Area of Ghana’s Central Region.
Videos of the ceremony, which took place on February 18, 2026, circulating on social media, showed him dressed in traditional yellow Ghanaian cloth, with beads and herbs adorning his neck and wrists, as part of the symbolic chieftaincy rites.
Popcaan was made to sit on the stool three times, solidifying his installation as the new chief, with the title Nana Arkoh Kese I bestowed upon him. He now serves as Aboafohen of the Apagyahen Division.

The lively event also featured libation pouring by the elders and a grand band procession for the dancehall musician, who had visited the country on different occasions.
The “Firm and Strong” hitmaker expressed gratitude to the people of Asebu under a pictures and videos of the ceremony.
