Respect Sarkodie’s Royal Albert Hall Achievement – Akwaaba UK CEO Says

The Ghanaian music concert promoter took to his Instagram page to counter pundits on Hitz FM who had downplayed the event, suggesting that Sarkodie would be unable to sell out the iconic O2 Arena's full capacity.

Dennis Tawiah, Chief Executive Officer of Akwaaba U.K, has responded to critics who had belittled Sarkodie’s Rapperholic Concert at the Royal Albert Hall, addressing industry conversations surrounding the show.

The Ghanaian music concert promoter took to his Instagram page to counter pundits on Hitz FM who had downplayed the event, suggesting that Sarkodie would be unable to sell out the iconic O2 Arena’s full capacity.

In his post, Tawiah commended Sarkodie’s achievement, advocating for respect for the artist. “Respect the achievement. Selling out the Royal Albert Hall is no small feat. @sarkodie and your team, Ayekooo,” he wrote, congratulating the rapper on his accomplishment.

Tawiah expressed dismay at the comments made by the pundits and the media house, deeming them dismissive of Sarkodie’s milestone.

“I honestly can’t believe what I am hearing right now from some media outlets and their guest panelists in Ghana,” he queried, highlighting the challenges faced by promoters in organizing events in the UK. “Do you guys realize how difficult it is for us promoters in the UK to get 500 people to attend a show or party, let alone the iconic Royal Albert Hall?”

Emphasizing the magnitude of Sarkodie’s achievement, Tawiah rebuked the pundits for demonstrating a lack of understanding regarding the significance of a Ghanaian musician selling out the prestigious venue.

“For a Ghanaian and African artist like Sarkodie to sell it out is not something to downplay or compare casually to a local show in Ghana. With all due respect, it sounds like the guests speaking on this matter have no real understanding of the scale and significance of that achievement,” he added.

Dennis Tawiah’s remarks are a response to a recent video circulating online, featuring Kwame Dadzie, host of Hitz FM’s entertainment show, and a panellist, Mr. Carter, discussing Sarkodie’s concert. In the video, they question the scale and significance of the event, sparking a heated debate across social media, with fans and industry observers chiming in on the topic.
