The 98th edition of the Oscars, hosted by Conan O’Brien, aired on March 15, 2026, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, celebrating the work of Hollywood’s screen stars.
The action thriller, One Battle After Another, was named Best Picture at the 98th Oscars, sweeping home a total of six awards. The film’s director, Paul Thomas Anderson, also won the award for Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay, marking his first-ever Oscar wins. Anderson took home his first Academy Award for his script.
Sean Penn took home the Best Supporting Actor award for his role in One Battle After Another, setting a record with this win. The film also landed an Oscar for Best Film Editing.
Sinners took home four Oscars, with Michael B. Jordan winning Best Actor and Ryan Coogler winning Best Original Screenplay for his film. Sinners also nabbed awards for Best Original Score, going to Ludwig Goransson, and Best Cinematography, awarded to Autumn Durald Arkapaw, who became the first woman to ever win the award.
The show featured tributes to several stars who died within the past year, including Rob Reiner, Robert Redford, Diane Keaton, and Catherine O’Hara.
