While full character details remain under wraps, Sarkodie and Lady Jay will appear as themselves. Amaarae will make her acting debut playing the character Nana. This marks the first time all three Ghanaian musicians are stepping into acting roles.

“First Day On Earth” written by and starring Michaela Coel, follows British-Ghanaian novelist Henri, portrayed by Coel herself, as she returns to Ghana, her parents’ homeland, in a bid to rebuild her life. While trying to establish herself as a writer, she navigates new friendships, adapts to Ghanaian culture, confronts deep emotional struggles, and uncovers hidden family truths that force her to reassess her heritage and identity.

First Day on Earth is a co-production between HBO and the BBC. Michaela Coel serves as writer, executive producer, and co-director of the project. The series comes after the critical success of her highly acclaimed 2020 drama, “I May Destroy You.”
