Ghanaian musicians Sarkodie and Amaarae have been cast in Michaela Coel’s upcoming HBO and BBC series, First Day on Earth, alongside fellow musician Lady Jay.
Sarkodie, Amaarae, and Lady Jay are the only Ghanaian musicians joining a strong ensemble of Ghanaian screen stars. The cast includes Joselyn Dumas, Sister Deborah, Adjetey Anang, Akofa Edjeani, Roselyn Ngissah, Godwin Namboe, and Akrobeto, also known as Akwesi Boadi. The series further features an international cast that includes Thandiwe Newton, Maxine Peake, Danny Sapani, and Ncuti Gatwa.

While full character details remain under wraps, Sarkodie and Lady Jay will appear as themselves. Amaarae will make her acting debut playing the character Nana. This marks the first time all three Ghanaian musicians are stepping into acting roles.
