Info Analytics: Asiedu Nketia Leads NDC Flagbearer Race, But Gap Narrowed

The new s indicates that while Asiedu Nketia appears to be leading, that gap is being narrowed by the prospect that Finance Minister, Cassiel Ato Forson, may contest

The National Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, is leading in the race among aspirants for the party’s flagbearer role.

This is according to a new delegates’ poll by Global Info Analytics conducted between 31st March and 9th April among nearly 10,400 delegates across all 16 regions.

According to the report, the party chairman leads with 29%, Ato Forson with 19%, Haruna Iddrisu with 11%, Julius Debrah with 8%, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang with 8%, others with 1%, and 24% are undecided.

Info Analytics indicates that while Asiedu Nketia appears to be leading, the gap is narrowing due to the prospect that Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson may contest.

“Although there are no indications that Ato Forson will contest the race, the polls show he is the biggest threat to the party chairman’s ambition to lead the party in the 2028 presidential elections,” the report said.

Chairman Asiedu Nketia led Ato Forson by 16 points in the top-of-the-mind (unprompted) baseline poll a week earlier, but that gap shrank to 10 points in a subsequent poll as undecided delegates broke towards Ato Forson, the report also said.

In the case of Julius Debrah, Asiedu Nketia led him by 23 points, but the gap has now reduced to 21 points.
