Ghana’s leading football viewing experience, The Mall Is The Stadium (TMITS), has partnered with the Esports Association of Ghana (EAG) to organise the country’s inaugural football simulation game tournament in Accra.
The 1XBET-sponsored competition will run from July 6 to July 19, 2026, across six major malls (Accra Mall, Junction Mall, West Hills Mall, Atlantic Mall, Marina Mall, and Achimota Mall).
Participants will compete in EA Sports FC simulations in two categories an open male and female event, and a dedicated female-only category. Gamers will showcase their skills, techniques, and tactical wits on consoles and giant screens in front of lively crowds. A total prize pool of GHS 10,000 will be shared among winners in both tournaments.
Eli Daniel-Wilson, CEO of Jenius Mark, owners of The Mall Is The Stadium, described the partnership as an exciting opportunity to merge traditional football fandom with competitive gaming.
“Football today is experienced far beyond the ninety minutes on the pitch. Fans play it, stream it, compete in it, and build communities around it,” he said. “Our partnership with the Esports Association Ghana allows us to bring those worlds together… This is only the beginning of what we believe will become a long-term collaboration.”
He noted that the organisers are promising to create experiences that make every mall a hub for football culture throughout the tournament.
“The Mall Is The Stadium has always been about transforming public spaces into unforgettable football experiences. Introducing Esports into the campaign expands that vision and creates new opportunities for young people to showcase their talent.”
Venus Tawiah, Director of Women’s Esports, said the initiative aims to empower both male and female gamers by increasing visibility and promoting inclusion in the sport.
“Our vision extends beyond this tournament. We see this as the foundation for a sustainable partnership that will nurture talent and create competitive and employment pathways for eSports athletes. Many of the digital literacy skills developed in esports are transferable to other industries. This will further position Ghana as one of Africa’s leading emerging esports destinations.
The Esports tournament will run alongside TMITS’ popular live World Cup match viewing sessions. Interested gamers and football enthusiasts are encouraged to participate across the various mall locations.
