Tema-born rapper Kwesi Arthur represents Ghana on the newly released Hennessy Cypher 2026, joining artists from across Africa and the United Kingdom in a rap session that celebrates the cognac brand’s long-standing support for hip-hop.
This year’s edition was shot in Johannesburg and produced by Nigerian hitmaker Sarz, whose credits include Wizkid, Omar Sterling, Lojay, and BNXN. His production gave the session a crisp, layered sound, balancing minimal beats with atmospheric textures and leaving space for each rapper’s voice to dominate.
The line-up featured Yanga Chief (South Africa), Kwesi Arthur (Ghana), Fena Gitu (Kenya), ENNY (United Kingdom), Suspect 95 (Côte d’Ivoire), and Tenor (Cameroon). Each artist brought their own cultural flavour, weaving bars that honoured hip‑hop while showcasing regional identity.
Kwesi Arthur opened the session with his signature calm delivery. His verses carried stories of survival, loss, and mortality, questioning the realities of African life expectancy under systems slow to change.
He paid tribute to Ghanaian music legend Daddy Lumba, who died last year, grounding his performance in memory and reverence. Then, shifting tone, Arthur leaned into swagger, firing shots and declaring dominance over peers he considers his protégés.
ENNY followed with sharp UK‑style delivery, her cadence crisp and deliberate. Suspect 95 impressed with sizzling French verses, his flow quick and confident. Kenyan star Fena Gitu delivered slick punchlines and acknowledged Kwesi Arthur in her set, her performance marked by playful confidence. Yanga Chief, representing the new school of Xhosa rap, fused sharp lyricism with cultural storytelling, his verses layered with pride and finesse. Finally, Cameroon’s Tenor closed with high‑speed energy, witty punchlines, and a fusion of street slang with francophone rap, leaving the cypher on a charged note.
The result was more than a rap session. The Hennessy Rap Cypher 2026 evolved into a cross‑cultural celebration of lyricism and penmanship, reaffirming hip‑hop’s power as both competitive sport and communal art form.
