Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has visited a 16‑year‑old fan injured during the stampede at the ShattaFest concert in London, fulfilling a promise he made in the aftermath of the incident.
The fan, identified as Abraham, was recovering at home with his family from cuts and injuries when Shatta Wale visited. The musician presented him with two Hotwav phones, gift cards, cash, and flowers, while also checking on his recovery.
He offered words of encouragement to the family and cheered the teenager to perform one of his songs (The Prophecy). Shatta Wale said he was struck by Abraham’s enthusiasm and ability to sing his lyrics word for word despite his condition.
“Most of the time, when I see that someone loves me that much, i get surprised. But it shows me that the connection is there. I was asking myself, how can a child from London sing my songs like that?” he remarked.
He noted that Abraham’s choice of song added significance to the moment and used the opportunity to apologise for the events at the concert.
“His choice of song shows he’s really seen his prophecy come true. I just want to say I’m so sorry for whatever happened,” Shatta Wale said.
The artiste explained that he had considered different ways of offering support before deciding that a personal visit would be more meaningful. He assured the family that he would stay in contact and regard their home as open to him on future trips to London. He also promised free tickets for the entire family to any of his forthcoming shows in the city.
“From now onwards, I will take this house as my house. Anytime I come to London, I will pass by and eat. We will also take contacts.” he said. “With the way I’m welcomed here, I can’t just leave like that. Anytime I will be having a show in London, you and the whole family will get free tickets.”
Abraham’s mother thanked Shatta Wale for honouring his promise to visit, noting that rumours had circulated claiming her son had died and that the artiste would not follow through.
The ShattaFest concert, which was intended as a celebration of Shatta Wale’s music and fan community, ended in chaos after overcrowding led to a stampede.
Several fans sustained injuries, prompting calls for tighter crowd management and safety measures at future events. Shatta Wale’s visit has been seen by many as an effort to rebuild trust with his fan base and demonstrate accountability beyond the stage.
