The Deputy Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Asokwa, Patricia Appiagyei, says the memo claiming she returned GH¢70,000 allocated to her for vetting recent ministerial nominees and three Supreme Court Justices is fake.
The Asokwa MP has also denied receiving or discussing any money in connection with the vetting process.
“I state expressly and without qualification that I did not receive any payment of GH¢70,000, or any other sum, from any person in connection with the vetting of ministerial or Supreme Court nominees,” she said in a statement, noting to take legal action against the persons who might have circulated the “fake” memo.

Meanwhile, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has begun a preliminary investigation into an alleged GH¢70,000 payment reportedly offered to Mrs Appiagyei in connection with the vetting of ministerial and Supreme Court nominees.
The investigation by the OSP comes amid the controversy surrounding the purported payment and the document linking the Asokwa MP to the alleged transaction.
