The Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) has released its 2026 list of 16 Ghanaian broadcasters recognised for meeting their music royalty obligations.
The announcement, shared on Instagram, comes at a time when Ghana’s music royalty collection system faces mounting scrutiny from artists and industry stakeholders.
Critics and artistes have long argued that the system lacks transparency, while GHAMRO insists compliance from broadcasters is essential to sustaining the creative economy.

“When radio and TV stations comply with copyright laws and fulfil their licensing obligations, our local artists, songwriters, and publishers get compensated for their hard work and creativity,” the organisation wrote in its post.
Seven television channels made the list: PCG TV, Pent TV, Lucky, Joy Prime, Channel One TV, Adom TV and Sporty FM, which GHAMRO noted for its broadcast operations.
For radio, nine stations were recognised, including Nhyira 104.5 FM, Hope FM, Adom 106.3 FM, Pent Radio 100.1 MHz, Live 99.5 FM, Asempa 94.7 FM, Hitz 103.9 FM, Joy 99.7 FM and Citi 97.3 FM.
GHAMRO’s recognition reinforces its “Pay Before Play” message, stressing that copyright is not only a legal requirement but also a foundation for industry sustainability.
At the same time, many artistes continue to press for greater transparency and accountability in the royalty system.
The organisation’s list of compliant stations is both symbolic and strategic, recognising those that meet their obligations while signalling to others that the future of the industry rests on respect for intellectual property.
