Vice Presidential candidate of the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang has given her maiden speech at her outdooring ceremony in Accra today, July 27, 2020.
The outdooring ceremony which took place at the auditorium of the University of Professional Studies, UPSA,was organized purposely to introduce the NDC’s running mate who was also the first female vice-chancellor of a public university in Ghana to the party and the general public.
While delivering her speech, Prof Opoku Agyemang assured the party and Ghanaians that she would work closely with John Mahama to develop Ghana when voted into offce in December.
“We are all aware that this is the first time in our history that a major party has nominated a woman on its ticket to become Vice President. I assure the leadership and rank and file of the party that I come to this position with the mindset of a team player. I belong to you all and will always count on your support and guidance,” she said.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also indicated that she will ensure institutional transformation as a vice president and make sure that there is no discrimination.
Prof Opoku-Agyemang’s election as John Mahama’s running mate sparked a lot of discussions as many had tipped some ‘politically’ visible members of the party for the position.
