Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu and member of the Appointments Committee of Parliament has resigned from the Committee.
In a letter dated March 30, addressed to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, the former minister explained that his decision was “after days of careful reflection and thoughtful considerations.
Although there has been agitations in the National Democratic Congress against members of parliament from the party on how they are transacting business in the house, we cannot point to that as part of his reasons.
Our sources say, however, that party folks feel misled especially with MPs who are part of the Appointments Committee of Parliament for approving ministers of the Akufo-Addo government who they thought were unfit to lead the country.
It will be recalled that some weeks ago, Sammy Gyamfi had accused leaders of the minority of of selling the NDC to the New Patriotic Party (NPP). The controversial young man in a statement reacting to the approval of some Ministers-designate of President Nana Akufo-Addo pointed out that the NDC leadership “have lost their moral authority to lead and are not fit to sit on the front bench of the NDC side of the house.”
