Education Minister Designate, Haruna Iddrisu has made clear President John Mahama’s plan for the free senior high school (FSHS) policy initiated by the erstwhile Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government.
According to the Tamale South MP, his government will fulfill its promise to continue and expand the policy and not truncate it as many have feared.
“Let me assure this committee that President John Dramani Mahama, has no option to cancel Free SHS. Therefore, those who listen to him, even in the cause of his campaign, he has stated that he will expand Free SHS,” he stated.

Speaking to the Appointment Committee of Parliament during his vetting on Monday, January 20, the minister-designate indicated that, his government will constitute a stakeholder forum to gather insights and recommendations aimed at enhancing the education sector.
“It was to tell Ghanaians that as President of the Republic, he wants to give 2 million to Article 25 of the 1992 Constitution and Article 38, which spells out the objective of our educational policy,” he added.
