The annual Met Gala, one of the most prestigious and glamorous fashion events, took place on May 5, 2025. The event featured celebrities, actors, and musicians showcasing bold and daring fashion concepts from designers and fashion houses.
This year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” celebrated fashion and couture that integrate Black cultural elements to make powerful fashion statements. The theme also explored the importance of style to the formation of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora, particularly in the United States and Europe.

Amidst all the glamour, Ghanaian designer Jude Dontoh (co-founder of Tribe of God) made a notable appearance with legendary musician Lauryn Hill, styling her in a stunning yellow tuxedo-inspired gown with an overflowing design, paired with a burgundy tie, sash, a blue hermes bag, a butter yellow umbrella, and gold jewellery.

Dontoh wasn’t the only Ghanaian designer who made an impression that night. Ghanaian-British designer Ozwald Boateng also made iconic strides with his designs on several celebrities, including Burna Boy, Tems, Issa Rae, Omar Sy, Jaden Smith and Coleman Domingo.

Additionally, Prince Gyasi, a Ghanaian visual artist, designed an artwork on a Balmain suit worn by actor Micheal Braun.
