The Office of Special Prosecutor (OSP) has re-declared former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta wanted and issued an Interpol Red Notice for his arrest.
Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng gave this update at a press conference on Monday. Kissi Agyebeng says his office has also triggered extradition processes to have Mr. Ofori-Atta brought to Ghana.
“We want him here physically, and we insist on it. A suspect in a criminal investigation does not pick and choose how the investigative body conducts its investigations and the methods suitable to him and his convenience. We will not countenance this conduct, not in this case,” the Special Prosecutor said.
He also told the press that although Ofori-Atta’s lawyers had requested that the OSP review the former minister’s biopsy report (which details his medical condition), that request was shot down.
“Mr. Ofori-Atta has failed to show any medical report of his travel risk,” Kissi Agyebeng said.
The former finance minister is being considered a suspect in five cases the OSP is investigating. Some of these cases are related to the controversial National Cathedral project.
