Die-hard fans of Ghanaian rap icon, Sarkodie, were treated to a nostalgic delight on May 29, 2025, when the rapper re-released his debut album, “Makye”, on digital streaming platforms (DSPs).
The “Makye” album was released on April 12, 2009, under DuncWills Entertainment imprint, after the label signed Sarkodie when he gained mass appeal and notoriety as a battle rapper during his Kasahare days on Adom FM.
The album garnered him a strong fan base and huge following as the masses fell in love with his fast-paced tongue-twisting style, humorous storytelling, deadly twi punchlines, and impeccable delivery. However, the album was nowhere to be found when the music world moved on from cassettes and compact discs to digital streaming services.

After many years of complaints and requests from fans, Sarkodie made the album available on major streaming platforms. The 12-track album, which spawned his popular hit songs like “Baby” featuring Mugeez, “Borga Borga,” and “Lay Away,” secured the second spot on the Ghana Apple Music Top Albums chart, two hours after its release.
