Fresh faces in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership contest have fast reshaped the dynamics of the race, according to the latest online survey conducted by Global Info Analytics.
“The online poll results, which form part of the June/July 2025 national tracking poll, show the new faces in the NPP race could spring surprises and destabilise the race to lead the party into 2028,” Mussa Dankwa, head of Global Info Analytics, stated.
The online poll places Hon. Patrick Boamah in a commanding lead with 29% of the votes, marking a sudden departure from the party’s traditional frontrunners. Former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, once widely tipped as the natural successor within the NPP, trails with 22%, while outspoken former legislator Kennedy Agyapong holds 19%.

What’s catching attention within political circles and drawing commentary is the combined momentum of three candidates — MP for Okwaikwei Central, Patrick Boamah (29%), Former Education, Minister Dr. Yaw Adutwum (14%), and Abetifi MP, Bryan Acheampong (3%) — whose cumulative 46% share now outpaces the combined support for both Dr. Bawumia and Kennedy Agyapong (41%).
Patrick Boamah’s lead in June’s online poll comes as no surprise, considering the legislator has garnered praise and support from both the NPP and NDC in the online media space for his calm demeanour and, quite recently, his decision to opt out of the minority caucus’s march to EOCO.
