Five-time Grammy Award-winning singer Angélique Kidjo is set to have her own star cemented on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2026.
The 64-year-old Beninese music icon, along with 36 other Hollywood stars and sports personalities — including Miley Cyrus, Timothée Chalamet, Demi Moore, Paulinho da Costa, Emily Blunt, Gordon Ramsay, and Shaquille O’Neal — was announced on Wednesday, July 4, 2025, at the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in Los Angeles as part of the Walk of Fame’s Class of 2026.
The “We Are One” composer becomes the first African performer to receive her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. However, she joins Hollywood actress and South African Charlize Theron, in representing Africa on the Hollywood boulevard, alongside names of over 2,700 stars.

Angélique Kpasseloko Hinto Hounsinou Kandjo Manta Zogbin Kidjo, is singer-songwriter, actress, and activist who hails from Cotonou in Benin. Known for her pristine voice and traditional songs, Kidjo has 16 albums to her credit. She started music as a back up singer when she moved to France in the 1980’s. She speaks French, Fon, Yoruba, English and has a personalised artistic dialect which she uses in composing her songs/ soundtracks for movies.
Angélique Kidjo has performed at notable events such as the Global Citizen Festival and in iconic concert halls around the world. She’s also participated in music festivals like Rock in Rio and Lilith Fair. Upcoming performances include the Hollywood Bowl and L’Olympia.
