Joey B and Ablekuma Nana Lace are twice as nice and cool as ice in their latest video for the new single, “Yaa Abrefi.”
Set against a confined backdrop of colourful shipping containers, the visuals for “Yaa Abrefi” open with both artistes relaxed and dressed in attire fitting for the hip-hop/street rapper persona, while freestyling into an upside-down microphone as nod to modern street freestyle settings on social media.
With fast cut shots focusing on the artistes calmly flexing behind the microphone, the clean footage catches your eye as you watch Joey B floating on a lo-fi type hip-hop beat layered with spaced-out bass punches, produced by Nxwrth. The “Tonga” hitmaker comically describes “Yaa Abrefi,” her lifestyle, and lays out his intentions to be with her.

Ablekuma Nana Lace, a viral internet sensation known for his funny melodic freestyles on radio, is the perfect fit for the song. He steps up after Joey B, also calling out a lady who left him when he was down on his luck. Now there’s a new lady filling that void, he narrates. This is different from your everyday rap record. It gives you a laid-back and relaxed vibe with a touch of humorous storytelling, that is if you have a good sense of humour.
The video was directed by Jeremy Joseph.
