MUSIGA Debuts She-Rhythms Festival

 

 

The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) officially unveiled Ghana’s first-ever female music festival, dubbed the She-Rhythms Festival, at the Alliance Française in Accra on Aug 29, 2025.

During the ceremonial launch, Chairperson Nana Adwoa Awindor and MUSIGA President Bessa Simons highlighted the theme “Empowering Her Voice, Amplifying Her Art, Reshaping Her Industry,” emphasizing the need for women to gain equal recognition and benefits in the industry. The She-Rhythms festival will feature music masterclasses, workshop sessions, and collaborative opportunities for female musicians in Ghana.

The unveiling ceremony included a cake-cutting moment, official announcements, and performances by notable artistes such as Celestine Donkor, Maya Blu, Kim Poole, Lady PJ, and Efya, who was named the official face of the festival. Notable guests in attendance included Prof. Esi Sutherland Addy, former MUSIGA President Diana Hopeson, media personality Black Coffee, and Dr. Samantha Ama Hollingworth. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Abena Ruthy, 2nd Vice President of MUSIGA and head of the Union’s Gender Desk, reiterating the commitment to championing gender equity in the music.

The She Rhythm festival, aimed at fostering women’s empowerment in the music industry, is scheduled for Dec 4-6, 2025, under the auspices of MUSIGA, Alliance Française Accra, and Ram Media Concepts.
