The final funeral rites for the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who passed way on August 7, 2025, was climaxed on September 18, 2025, in Kumasi, where traditional authorities, mourners and dignitaries from all over the country paid their last respects.
For four days, scores of mourners thronged the Manhyia Palace to observe the Doteyie. According to Asante diplomacy historian Mr. Y.A. Gyamfi, Doteyie is the traditional burial rites usually observed between 40 and 80 days after the death of a prominent person or a traditional ruler. The ceremonies, which often last about four days, are highly structured and deeply symbolic.
