DStv Subscribers to Enjoy Increase in Number of Channels – Sam George

According to him, MultiChoice Africa has committed to roll out an “unprecedented increased value offer only in Ghana,” giving subscribers between 33% to 50% more value depending on the package they use.

The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam George Nartey, has announced that Ghanaian DStv subscribers will enjoy more value for their money from October 1, following new arrangements agreed between the government and MultiChoice Africa.

He made this known during a press briefing in Accra on Monday, September 29, after an engagement with the pay-TV provider.

According to him, MultiChoice Africa has committed to roll out an “unprecedented increased value offer only in Ghana,” giving subscribers between 33% to 50% more value depending on the package they use.

“This new arrangement means Ghanaians will get more services for less. It is a commitment by MultiChoice to respond to the concerns of subscribers in Ghana, and the offer is unmatched anywhere else in Africa,” Mr George explained.

Under the new plan, subscribers will keep paying current fees but be automatically upgraded with more channels.

  • Customers on the Pady bouquet (GH¢59) will be moved to the Access bouquet (GH¢99), gaining 35 extra channels — a 40% saving.

  • Those on Access (GH¢99) will move to Family (GH¢190), with 19 additional channels, saving 48%.

  • Family (GH¢190) subscribers will be upgraded to Compact (GH¢380), gaining 22 channels, including live football, representing 50% savings.

  • Compact (GH¢380) customers will move up to Compact Plus (GH¢570), with 12 additional channels and 33% savings.

  • Compact Plus (GH¢570) subscribers will be upgraded to Premium (GH¢865), with 18 more channels at 34% savings.

Premium subscribers will retain their bouquet but be entered into a competition for fully paid trips to watch selected English Premier League matches.

Mr. George said the arrangement follows concerns raised by Ghanaian subscribers over rising pay-TV costs.

“This is a commitment by MultiChoice to respond directly to our market, and no other country on the continent has this offer,” he noted.

The policy takes effect from October 1, 2025, and will cover both new and existing customers without restrictions.
