Black Sherif has disclosed that he’s not losing sleep over being left off the Grammy nominees list released last Friday.
The “Ironboy” crooner, in an interview on Hitz FM on Monday Nov 10 2025, showed his indifference to the Grammy nominations when asked about the exclusion of Ghanaians, while his Nigerian counterparts made it onto the list. Expounding on the issue, he stated that he indeed filed for nominations in the Best African Music Performance and Global Music categories respectively. He admitted that winning securing a spot in the list would have been a exciting moment for him and his core followers, however the absence of one does not bother him emotionally.
“We did file for African Music Performance and Global Best Performance. I would be happy if they nominate me. But like I’m saying, it doesn’t even shift me if they don’t. I’m not phased,” he noted.
According to the him, Ghana’s music industry is evolving, and recognition on global platforms like the Grammys will come organically with time.
The conversation turned to the Ghana music scene when Black Sherif was asked about being named a strong contender at the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, to which he boldly asserted that clinching the Artiste of the Year and Album of the Year awards was not far-fetched.
“We deserve it, don’t you think so? I will win it,” the young singer said.
He explained that while awards are important, he doesn’t take pride in the validation they bring; instead, he’s driven to win for his fans, as his true validation comes from crafting quality records.
“I want to win it for the fans. It’s a validation for them,” he stated. “My validation is in making good music.”
