Billboard Africa has officially crowned Ghanaian pop star Moliy as Hitmaker of the Year 2025, following the viral success of her hit single “Shake It To The Max.”
Billboard Africa announced the news on Instagram in a lengthy post highlighting the young pop star’s humble beginnings, musical influences, discography, and her genius for crafting a perfect pop style that resonates with a global audience.
Moliy received the Hitmaker of the Year award at a Billboard Africa event in Johannesburg, South Africa, along with music industry insiders from different African countries.

Starting her pop music career in a country that traditionally promotes more conventional styles, Moliy Ama Montgomery stayed consistent in pushing her unique style (Pop/Alté )to the masses, with her debut EP, “Wondergirl.”
She first gained widespread recognition through her standout feature on Amaarae’s “Sad Girlz Luv Money,” which entered the Billboard Hot 100 and became a global cultural anthem.
Moliy’s global rise to global superstardom arrived with the Afro-dancehall smash “Shake It To The Max (FLY),” which dominated charts, spawned different remix and covers from Ghanaian and international acts.
“Shake It To The Max” spent over six weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs Chart, entered the Top 10 of the Billboard Global 200, and has amassed over 289 million streams worldwide.
