Charterhouse Faces Venue Headache for TGMA 2026

Charterhouse, organizers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), are facing an unexpected last-minute hurdle as they scramble to secure a venue for the 2026 edition, with the event now just weeks away.

Robert Klah, Head of Public Events and Communications at Charterhouse Productions, confirmed the situation in an interview on Hitz FM. He disclosed that the Grand Arena, the venue that has hosted most recent editions of the awards, is no longer available after the landowners requested that the premises be vacated.

“The only thing left now is the venue. Unfortunately, the Grand Arena is not available,” Klah said. “From what I understand, the owners of the land want their property back, so we no longer have access and must find an alternative venue.”

Klah stated that the search for a suitable replacement is actively underway and that an official announcement on the new location will be made in the coming days. He noted that Charterhouse has contingency plans in place to ensure the event proceeds without major disruptions to production quality.

Despite the setback, Klah insisted that the core mission of the TGMA remains unchanged. The primary goal, he said, is still to celebrate excellence in Ghanaian music and elevate it both nationally and on the international stage.

The 4,500-capacity Grand Arena is located inside the Accra International Conference Centre. It has been the preferred and consistent venue for the TGMA since 2019, thanks to its central location, flexible setup, and status as the largest indoor event space in Ghana. Built and managed by Charterhouse Productions, the arena spans approximately 2,800 square meters and has successfully hosted major concerts and high-profile events.

According to reports, the venue’s unavailability coincides with government plans to carry out a major renovation of the entire Accra International Conference Centre under President John Dramani Mahama.
