Black Sherif has won his first International Reggae and World Music Award (IRAWMA) at the 43rd edition of the ceremony held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, Florida.
The 24-year-old won the Most Promising Entertainer category, the Dennis Brown Award, named after the legendary Jamaican reggae singer. He beat strong competition from Moliy, Tielo Lanez, Nhance, and Mystic Marley to claim the honour, which recognizes emerging talents who demonstrate exceptional promise and cultural impact.
The victory comes at a remarkable time for Black Sherif. Just weeks earlier, he dominated the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards, winning five trophies including Artiste of the Year for the second time.

Widely celebrated for his distinctive style and sound, Black Sherif has rapidly evolved from a promising street artist into a major force in African music. His sophomore album “Iron Boy,” released last year, has been a commercial success, earning him consistent chart dominance on both Spotify and Apple Music in Ghana while steadily building his international audience.
With tours lined up in the US and Canada later this year and “Iron Boy” still performing strongly on playlists, Black Sherif’s trajectory shows no signs of slowing down. This latest accolade not only celebrates his current run but also positions him as one of the key artists carrying Ghanaian music onto the world stage.
