Abu Iddris, manager of the late Ghanaian actress Beverly Afaglo Baah, has revealed that the actress passed away after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.
In an interview with Ghana Weekend on Sunday, May 24, 2026, Abu Iddris confirmed that Beverly Afaglo died at the International Maritime Hospital in Tema.
“She’s been battling cancer for two years. It’s been a relentless war. She really fought hard and this is where it ended,” he said.
According to Iddris, the illness began as breast cancer but later metastasised due to its aggressive nature. Despite her condition, Beverly Afaglo remained dedicated to her craft, continuing to shoot promotional content and attend film premieres while undergoing chemotherapy and balancing family life.
“In fact, we shot things for her while she was undergoing treatment. The premieres, the promotions… she was undergoing treatment. She lived while doing her very best until the cancer really overtook her,” he stated.
The manager also disclosed that Beverly had travelled to the United States for advanced treatment and was advised to stay abroad. However, she made the heartfelt decision to return to Ghana so she could spend her final days with her children.
“She chose to come be with her kids, knowing the situation. This is the kind of person she is. She chose to come see her kids and spend the last days with them at a cost,” he added.
Management of the late actress, through Cine-God Studios, has released a formal statement announcing arrangements for her one-week observance. The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the Green Flavour Events Centre, Community 9, Tema, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The family has appealed for prayers, support, and privacy as they grieve.
“The family respectfully requests prayers, support, and privacy as they mourn this painful loss and make arrangements for her final rites,” the statement read.
Additional details concerning the full funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.
