The family of legendary Ghanaian highlife musician Daddy Lumba has publicly unveiled his final resting place at his private residence in East Legon, Accra, ending months of speculation about where the musician was buried.
The tomb was revealed on Sunday, 26 July 2026, during a private ceremony marking the first anniversary of his death. Family members, industry colleagues, friends and close associates gathered for the customary remembrance rites.
A specially prepared mausoleum at the East Legon property houses his grave. The space is decorated with photographs, awards and memorabilia from his decades-long career, offering a quiet tribute to one of Ghana’s most influential musicians.
The family confirmed that Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, was laid to rest on land he had designated within or near his East Legon home. Speaking at the ceremony, his sister Faustina Fosu said:
“I would like to tell all my brother’s fans across the world that if anyone wants to see where he was buried or his final resting place, they can come to East Legon, to his house.”
Also present was one of his widows, Odo Broni, who had a tattoo of the late musician on her left arm, and her children. Odo Broni paid an emotional tribute to Daddy Lumba, pleading with the late musician to clear her name of allegations that she was involved in his death.
“You always told people to thank me for taking such good care of you. Papa, please prove my innocence and show the world that I had no hand in your death. I have suffered so much because of all the allegations that I had a hand in your death. Papa, I am begging you.” she spoke. “Papa, I never lived with you with bad intentions. You always told me that if you had not met me, you would have been dead by now. You made me feel like a queen, and you testified to everyone about how good I was to you.”
The disclosure brings clarity after prolonged public curiosity and debate surrounding the musician’s burial arrangements following his death on 26 July 2025 at the age of 60. Daddy Lumba left behind a lasting legacy as one of the defining voices of Ghanaian highlife, with a career spanning nearly four decades and more than 30 albums.
