The Accra Indie Filmfest (AiF) has wrapped up its 8th edition with an awards ceremony that spotlighted strong short films and rising filmmakers.
This year’s edition, themed Resilience in Motion, brought together filmmakers, students, cinephiles, and industry professionals for five days of masterclasses, screenings, panels, and networking sessions. The theme reflected the persistence and creativity of independent cinema, particularly in a climate where short films often struggle for visibility and resources.
Ahead of the main awards show, participants engaged in professional development sessions, film screenings, and international collaborations. These activities underscored the festival’s mission to support independent filmmakers and help their work reach wider audiences, while also positioning Accra as a growing hub for African and global short film culture.

On the final night, prizes were awarded for storytelling, performance, directing, and technical excellence. The official selection featured 48 films from 28 countries, highlighting the festival’s international reach and its role in connecting Ghanaian filmmakers with global peers.
The festival also honoured emerging talents through AiF Talent Connect, a mentorship programme designed to identify and nurture new voices in cinema. Selected participants were given the opportunity to pitch projects for a place at the prestigious Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival Talent Connexion, with support from the French Embassy.
This initiative reflects AiF’s commitment not only to showcasing films but also to building sustainable careers for young creatives.
